Riding on a wave of rumors and hype, the Samsung Galaxy Note7 has landed. The new flagship will help Samsung venture deeper into several market segments.<br />

The Note7 is <b>tough</b>. It's the first Note to be waterproofed - 
IP68 rating certifies it for depths beyond 1m. The phone's metal frame 
is sandwiched between two symmetrically curved sheets of Gorilla Glass 
5. The new Blue Coral option paints the metal and accents in gold, the 
rest in blue.<br />

The Note7 has <b>an amazing screen</b>. Samsung kept to the 5.7" 
Super AMOLED formula but curved it on both sides like an edge phone. It 
has QHD resolution, naturally, but is among the first mobile displays to
 feature HDR support - a feature borrowed from 4K TVs that allows the 
screen to show more colors and scenes with very high contrast.<br />

The <b>S Pen</b> promises a ballpoint pen-like experience. The stylus
 can leave notes on the Always on screen. And it can write underwater! 
Other new features include a text magnifying glass, a translate tool, 
even a GIF creator.<br />

The Note7 is <b>secure</b>. It adds an iris scanner to its arsenal of
 biometric sensors. Soon, it will be able to replace the fingerprint 
reader as the way to secure Samsung Pay, Knox and your personal files 
(hidden in the Secure folder). You can still use the fingerprint reader,
 of course. Both will be available to third-party apps through Samsung 
Pass.<br />

The Note7 is Samsung's <b>first with USB Type-C</b>. The port 
supports On The Go and quick charging. There's wireless quick charging 
too, to fill the 3,500mAh battery in a hurry (yes, it's 100mAh smaller 
than the S7 edge battery).<br />

The <b>12MP dual-pixel camera</b> from the Galaxy S7 is back. It 
features a bright f/1.7 aperture and OIS and can record 2160p video. On 
the front is a 5MP selfie camera, again borrowed from the S7.<br />

The Note7 is <b>powerful</b>. It's powered by a Snapdragon 820 
chipset or an Exynos 8890 (depends on region), has 4GB of RAM (the 6GB 
rumor fizzled out) and 64GB storage. You get a microSD slot, but UFS 
cards are not supported. There's no word on a 128GB version yet.<br />

Samsung polished its Android 6.0 Marshmallow customizations for the 
Note7. A bit awkward that it just ahead of the Android 7.0 Nougat 
launch.<br />

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 will go on pre-order tomorrow, August 3. 
Sales officially start on August 19, at least in the US. All major 
carriers will offer the phone, plus many retailers. More launch info here.<br />

Unlike the S7, the Note7 will not be bundled with a free Gear VR, but
 for a limited time, you can score a free Gear Fit 2 smart band or a

Chinese smartphone and smart device maker Xiaomi just announced its 
first laptop — and boy does it look familiar to products belonging to a 
company that begins with the letter ‘A’ 😉<br />

The Chinese tech giant is holding a press event to unveil its new 
Redmi Pro smartphone today, but it also dropped a surprise with the 
unveiling of the Mi Notebook Air. Even the name sounds familiar, right?<br />

The laptop comes in two sizes — 13.3-inch and 12.5-inch — running 
Windows with a full-HD display, full-metal body and type-C USB charging 
and two USB slots. There’s a full-sized keyboard with Apple-esque keys 
that are individually backlit.<br />

Under the hood, Xiaomi is promising an Intel Core i5 Processor with 
8GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB PCIe SSD, and an expandable SSD slot. For games, 
there’s a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card. Size-wise, we 
are talking 306.9 mm x 210.9 mm x 14.8 mm with an apparent weight of 
1.28 kg.<br />
<br />

The starting price is 3599 CNY, or around $540, with a flagship model
 priced at 4,999, or $750. Don’t hold your breath on an international 
launch, since many of Xiaomi products — particularly its first forays 
into new categories — are China-only affairs. What we know so far is it 
will go on sale in China from August 2.<br />

<span style="font-size: small;">As is so often the case, Apple is the standard for Xiaomi’s product 
comparison. The Chinese company said the Mi Notebook Air is thinner (13 
percent) than its equivalent Macbook Air, and 11 percent smaller than

Exactly one week ago we brought you an exclusive first look at the upcoming Sony Xperia handset with the model number F8331. This is going to be the successor to the Xperia X Performance
 that just went on sale this month, and while in terms of innards it's 
not entirely different from that phone, it does sport a very different 
design.<br />

Here are a couple of newly leaked images showing the F8331, 
emphasizing that point further. Sure, the front of this device does look
 like a lot of past Sony flagships, but its back is distinctive, 
thankfully. Oh, and you get to see a horribly designed screen protector 
too.<br />

The Xperia F8331 will come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 at the 
helm, like its predecessor, but it will have a slightly bigger screen 
(now 5.1") and the ability to record 4K video with both of its cameras.<br />

This phone might end up being Sony's flagship offering for the second
 half of 2016, and its unveiling could happen at the beginning of 
September at IFA in Berlin. It will come with a USB Type-C port (a first
 for Sony) but will retain the 3.5 mm headset jack that so many 
companies are ditching this year.<br />

Over the past few weeks we've seen a lot of leaks and rumors 
regarding BlackBerry's second Android-running smartphone. At various 
points this was referred to as Hamburg, Neon, or DTEK50, with an official press render leaking mere hours ago. And now we know that, out of those three, BlackBerry chose DTEK50 to be the phone's official name.<br />

As rumored, the BlackBerry DTEK50 is just a rebranded alcatel Idol 4,
 a mid-range Android device that got announced at the beginning of this 
year. The difference, obviously, is that the DTEK50 runs BlackBerry's 
interpretation of Android, and not alcatel's.<br />
<br />

It comes with the BlackBerry Hub preinstalled, as well as the 
BlackBerry keyboard, while DTEK (the software) monitors your overall 
security rating and has suggestions for improving it. DTEK tracks your 
apps and notifies you when someone is taking pictures or videos without 
your knowledge, or accessing your contacts or location. The same goes 
for when your microphone is turned on and when an SMS is sent.<br />

The phone also features a programmable BlackBerry Convenience Key, 
pop-up widgets, BlackBerry Device Search, Instant Actions, and Gesture 
Controls as part of the Canadian company's software enhancements to 
Android.<br />

The DTEK50 is "the world's most secure Android smartphone" according 
to BlackBerry - but if you believe that then you also see how ironic it 
is that the much more expensive Priv is apparently less secure.<br />

As for specs, if you know those of the alcatel Idol 4, then you know 
the BlackBerry DTEK50's too. The two handsets are identical. So 
BlackBerry's newest offering comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 
13 MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus and LED flash, an 8 MP 
selfie shooter, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 617 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of 
expandable storage, and a 2,610 mAh battery. It runs Android 6.0 
Marshmallow.<br />

It's already up for pre-order from BlackBerry's own website
 in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the 
Netherlands. It's priced at $299, €339, CAD 429, and £275, respectively.
 It will become available during the week of August 8.<br />

Today Verizon has started pushing out new software updates for both the LG G5 and the V10.
 These are rolling out to the handsets over-the-air, so if you own 
either one expect to get an update notification within the next few days
 (as OTA rollouts are usually staged).<br />

With the new VS98713A software version, Verizon's LG G5 finally gets 
an option to show an app drawer in its built-in launcher. This has 
sorely been missed by some people who like app drawers and for some 
reason aren't aware that there are plenty of launchers in the Play Store
 providing this functionality.<br />

So if you want to see an app drawer as part of LG's launcher, just go
 to Settings > Home screen and choose "Home with app drawer". 
Additionally, G5 owners will now see a USB selection screen like the one
 portrayed in the image to the left whenever they connect a cable to the
 phone. The LG Health app has also been improved with the addition of 
customizable exercise modes, and a change to its dashboard.<br />

The LG V10's update arrives as software version VS99023A, and it's a 
smaller affair, bringing with it the new USB selection screen - 
identical to the one for the G5 (again, see the image in this article). 
Finally, it's also supposed to have some unnamed improvements to Wi-Fi 
Calling functionality built-in.<br />

Friday was the last day at the office for about 30 people at Cyanogen
 Inc. The company has laid off about a fifth of its workforce, mostly 
the open source division. US offices in Palo Alto and Seattle have been 
heavily affected by the cuts, while the Lisbon and India branches have 
been pretty much entirely shut down.<br />

Additionally, the company will reportedly be making a shift towards app development.<br />

How all that will affect the future of CyanogenMod is yet unclear, 
but with no one at Cyanogen Inc. actually working on it, it's not 
looking bright. The Android ROM debuted on the original OnePlus One, then the two companies parted ways when Cyanogen chose to work with Micromax in India.
 Ultimately though, the lack of manufacturers willing to adopt it meant 
CyanogenMod couldn't become the alternative to Google's take on Android 
to the extent its creators had hoped for.<br />

shake up the status quo. Top 3 remains unchanged yet again with the 
Redmi Note 3 on top and its usual sidekicks Galaxy J7 (2016) and Moto G4
 Plus.<br />

The fourth position occupant remains the same too - last year's

Galaxy J7 follows, then the reigning Samsung flagship Galaxy S7 in 
8th, while the S7 edge is in 10th. And it's right about here that we 
would usually find the iPhone 5s, last week in 9th, but this time it's
